DALLAS: B.W. BBQ
2234 Irving Boulevard
Dallas, TX 75207
214-905-4946
Open M-F 11-4, Sat 11-3
Update 11/2009: This joint is CLOSED.
2008: There's fall-apart tender, then there's break-apart tender. This brisket was so dry, I broke it into pieces to down it. I tried dunking it in the sauce, but it was nothing more than sweetened tomato sauce with no spices. The slices had a great crust and smoke line, but it was devoid of flavor and smoke. The ribs had a great crust and smoke line as well, and again, undetectable flavor. The ribs were very meaty, but so tough, I had to rip them apart with my hands in order to ingest them.

BW's BBQ has been one of my favorites for years, always had good sliced beef and ribs and I love the sauce. Yes, it's all opinion anyway!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I drove by today at noon and they were closed! I hope it's not permanent.
sadly BW's is closed permanently. I wish someone would get the ladies to make a cookbook of the recipes. BW, Bruce W. Morrow, died about a year ago I think and they tried to keep it on , but they've officially closed. it was my fave bbq place.
ReplyDeleteSadly it is closed. BW himself, Bruce W. Morrow, died about a year ago. And they tried to keep the store open, but closed it. Was my fave bbq place in town too. I wish the ladies would make a cookbook at least.
ReplyDeleteI was afraid that was the case, I drove by one more time since and again, nothing in the parking lot.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad, I knew Bruce for years from going there. There used to be a line out the door everyday at lunch time. He moved to NW Hwy for a few years and it was near my work, so I felt fortunate. He eventually moved back to the original building and I'd make the drive for lunch. I'd also see him at the State Fair over the years... selling his ribs in the Food Court.
Bruce was always friendly to his clientele, a great guy.
I had known that he died doing what he loved most, fishing... and that his wife and friends were going to try to keep it going. It's all quite a loss to some of us, but will be remembered fondly by me.
