As we pulled into the parking lot right off of State Highway 281, we were hoping this joint could turnaround our luck from a day of disappointing BBQ. The building has some history as a real feed store which closed in 2007. Some business partners purchased the building and opened this joint in 2009. The interior has soaring ceilings with exposed structural members, and seating for 127. Suffice to say, it's big.

We ordered in a cafeteria line, and meats are only available by weight rather than one or two meat plates. We got brisket, ribs and turkey, and the ribs looked questionable as soon as they were cut. These large spare ribs were so overcooked that they just fell apart into hunks of stringy meat. They tasted old from extensive storage, and had no hints of smoke. These ribs were just plain bad. Turkey had better flavor, but from suffered from dryness and a tough texture. Brisket was the best option with good seasoning and a bit of smoke. Most slices were well smoked with a nice texture, but some from the point were flecked with unrendered fat. It was just another disappointment for the day, and seemed to be more so just because it really looked to have potential. We tried to drown our sorrows in one of the huge brownies we picked up on an impulse buy right by the register. These blocks of sawdust seemed to seal it for us. This joint just isn't that good.

  4. Ahhhh---you must be crazy. Ate there and the ribs were HEAVEN. And this is from a born and bred Texas gal with 56 years of Texas BBQ experience! Chalk it up to an off day and give them another chance. Everybody gets to have one strike before you write them off!

  6. It was dry and tough on Sunday, September 11. Tasted like leftovers. Potato salad looked and tasted like they cubed some boiled potatoes, stirred in a little mustard and too much salt, with NOTHING else. Neither of could even eat the sausage. It's hard to mess up smoked sausage. Nice place, nice people working there. I guess we should've gotten chopped brisket sandwich, because the sauce was REALLY good.

  7. WOW, What an untrue review!!
The food at this place is top of the game! Everything is amazing about it!!
These people need to know what they are talking about!
Brisket is amazing!! extremely moist and full of that flavor!
Sausage (from millers I was told) is really well cooked they have regular & Jalapeno
Turkey was by far my favorite it isn't like most trukey BBQ joints sell, this one was so tender and juicy and full of flavor. (it isn't deli turkey like most i have seen around)
Chicken is great as well, my kiddos had the chicken and even they pickiest of them enjoyed it and finished it all.
Ribs were what my husband had, he LOVED THEM! he said they fell right off the bone. They were so tender. He loved the sweet flavor they had.
That was just the few meats we tried!

THe sides and desserts are a different story that would take 2 pages to write about because their are just so many choices!! BUT they were4 all amazing! NOTHING was bad.

We will be back for Sure!!
