After a wholly disappointing day on the search for 'cue, we had second thoughts of even stopping here knowing we would not be able to tolerate anymore bad BBQ. The drive-thru was open, but we went inside to check out the digs instead. A small dining room looks right into the open kitchen where several ladies share the duties as they banter back and forth. Ribs (which they're known for) were gone for the day, so we settled for brisket, sausage and pulled pork.

Brisket was good and smoky. The meat had great texture, moisture and good overall flavor. It was a real savior at the end of this day-long drought. Sausage was also a good effort. The medium grind meat married well with the aggressive spices and a good snap. Sauce drenched pulled pork tasted of sloppy joe, and really had nothing more than the one note flavor from the sauce. Not much smoke was evident, and there was no variation in texture after that bath. On the next drive down 281, I'll just head straight for Peete Mesquite. Maybe I'll make it there before the ribs sell out.

  1. First the pulled pork doesn't taste like sloppy joes, and it is great over there baked potatos. Also, my favorite is there smoked turkey, melts in your mouth!
